Tips on how to find a Dietitian that’s right for you:
Ask them if how many years experience they have working in the area that you’re looking for help in, to start.
If they are a Registered Dietitian, they will be covered by most extended health plans, as they are registered professionals, carry liability insurance, and are the go-to experts for all things nutrition.
FYI: 1400 people graduate with various “Nutrition degrees/certificates/schooling” each year in BC alone compared to just 37 Dietitians who completed a 5-Year Science Degree, including a 1 year practicum in BC healthcare systems, from UBC. Its one of the main reasons why there is so much nutrition misinformation out there. We are a small profession.
