Our new go-to Morning smoothie (or after school) recipe
This is one our favourite smoothies for on-the-go, morning breakfast, mid-day snack for us mama. Its also a great after school snack for the littles who seem to always be hungry!
Smoothies are such a great way to throw in vegetables, fruits, and additional healthy supplements to make it easy to get all the nutrients in a quick under 2 min preparation in the morning. Instead of the bloating feeling you sometimes get from bananas, this recipe includes cauliflower - a superfood which is high in antioxidants and a good source of fibre - but you would never know! It still creates a creaminess texture without any additional veggie flavour.
When coming up with this recipe, we were inspired by a recipe from The Clean Plate, the newest cookbook from Gwyneth Paltrow.
Recipe
1/2 cup of cauliflower
(*Tip: cut a whole cauliflower in small florets and freeze for later, they are super easy to throw into the blender this way)
1/2 cup of frozen blueberries OR frozen mango
1 pitted date
1/2 lime juice
1 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
1 tsp of almond butter
Sprinkle of nutritional yeast (for those who are more plant-based, its a great source of B-12)
1 tsp of hemp seeds
1 tsp of chia seeds
Add-on’s for the mamas:
1 tsp Maca Powder (helps with energy depletion)
1 tsp Ashwagandha Powder (also helps with energy depletion)
